Pulp Hero of the Apocalypse
Times like the apocalypse change people. Some who have lived the straight and narrow path all their lives become cold, savage villains. For others, it’s enough to make good men into great men, and great men into legends. Jason Cole is one of those men. He didn’t ask to save people…he just did what came naturally to him.
Jason Cole and his wife Jessica and their young son Ricky saw the handwriting on the wall long before The End finally came. He bought a good size patch of land to use for hunting, but with a secondary purpose of having a place to go should his worse fears become reality. When they did, Jason packed up his wife, son and his mother and headed to The Camp, as he called it. Slowly, some friends he had arranged to join him trickled in. Many had military training, others had been outdoorsmen their whole lives. Everyone had a part to play.
Jason and his tribe simply wanted to be left alone. They fought the occasional looter and protected their neighbors, but they weren’t looking to do more. One day, they were approached by the city leaders of nearby Pinnacle, GA and asked to join them. Jason asked questions, and soon found out that the leaders weren’t the elected officials, but people with guns and food…enough they could control things. Jason passed on joining, not wanting any part of such an arrangement. The leaders of Pinnacle apparently forgot to mention to Jason that it wasn’t a request.
While Jason and several others were out hunting, Pinnacle attacked the Camp, killing several people including Jason’s wife, Jessica. The Camp had taken in a lot of people, and they all volunteered to join Jason in seeking vengance. Many of them had lost family in the attack, and they had grown to love Jessica as much as Jason did.
In the dark of night they struck, disabling guards and capturing the city leaders. They freed captives who’s only crime was to speak out against what they saw was injustice. Now free, the people of Pinnacle, GA looked for other communities and formed the Southwest Georgia Alliance, and asked Jason to be in charge of it’s military forces. He declined.
However, people still flocked to Jason’s Camp, now dubbed Camp TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It) seeking to join him. He formed the White Stars, partially in tribute to Babylon 5, but also from the Bonnie Blue Flag that was originally from the Republic of West Florida and later used during the Civil War to represent independence. The White Stars agreed to only accept volunteers and to fight any attack against the Alliance.
In their first action, they met up with the Templars and quickly formed an alliance. Both groups having similar goals. The two groups have fought side by side many times, especially against 2-Rock and his Vipers, as well as the Son’s of the Apocalypse, a white supremicist group seeking domination over the area as well. Jason has shown himself to be a skilled commander and talented with guerilla tactics.
While Jason mourns Jessica’s death each day, his son Ricky keeps him grounded. Jason just hopes he can raise his son to be a man worthy of his mother when all is said and done. The Vipers, on the other hand, will fall before the White Stars and Jason plans to personally put an end to 2-Rock’s reign of terror.

That was awesome!
Did he used to be a copier salesman?
This genre is still the most criminally underserved of the bunch. Most of the settings currently out there deal with the “future”. We don’t see much of the nearer aftermath. Why have mutants, when real people can be MUCH scarier.

No…he does NOT have anything to do with THAT character in the least
Seriously, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Jason is a personal favorite character of mine.
